For the third year running, our efforts to make Serendipity more sustainable and environmentally responsible have been recognised by our local council. Marrickville Council runs a voluntary program for business within the area to commit to targets for reduction of CO2, waste to landfill, and water use. We're now in our third year of using 100% green energy so we can't get better on our CO2 emissions for electricity (zero output), but we have made a susbstantial improvement on our waste to landfill. Although we grew by 25% last year, we achieved an 8% reduction in waste to landfill by improving our collection of recyclable materials.
We'll keep working on other ways to make our business more sustainable, and our goodies even more guilt free! We'd love to hear your suggestions...
